Our own furniture

Lorie and I have an unfurnished apartment for the next 9 months, so we have to find furniture. We have found a few things and we didn't even have to leave Jamaica! The past couple days we have spent some time looking at different furniture posted on the school bulletin board, blogs, and also on craigslist. Oh, the joy of technology. These are some of the things that we've found....

Old Skool chair. They say it is soooo comfortable. Lorie just likes it because it's orange. - $20

Women's Bicycle. Lorie likes it because it has a seat that is really "cushy." - $35

Desk - sufficient for our needs and inexpensive. - $25

Bamboo chair - Big, round, blue.... Good for parties, making friends, and watching tv - $10

Table - medium sized, nice chairs, modern and luxurious - table w/chairs - $50

A hide-a-bed couch - large, comfortable, and nice to look at - $62.50

What do you think? Good deals?

I looked out the window and what did I see???

A million mosquitoes, trying to kill me?

I woke up on Friday early because Lorie and I had to teach a Career Workshop. I walked out into the living room to go into the kitchen to make breakfast and I saw one of my worst fears...... a room completely full of mosquitoes. My first reaction was, "what the....," then I walked into the kitchen hoping that it would be a little better. To my dismay, there were hundreds in there as well. I don't think I have ever been more upset about my living conditions than I did at that moment. I walked back into the hallway to my room and made sure that none were following me (which is almost impossible), walked in the room, took a deep breath and tried to figure out what I was going to do. Thoughts flew through my mind...Maybe I'll just stay in here.....maybe I just wont eat breakfast.....No I have to, I promised Lorie I would make something......Maybe I'll go out there and they'll be gone....am I being punished for something?....am I imagining that it's really that bad....Maybe it's not that bad. I went back out there and I think I noticed even more this time. Back to the room. I thought...oh my gosh, this is the worst day of my life....I think I'm ready to go home.....wait, I have a can of bug spray....but it's in Bartley's room.....wait, I think I can hear him...yes, he's on the phone. I walked into his room, grabbed the can of bug spray and went to town on those mosquitoes. I wasted the whole can only to find that it wasn't really doing much. You have to spray those stupid mosquitoes directly on their bodies for it to work. So, I opened the doors of the kitchen and the living room and either they died from the spray or left. There were still a few when I made breakfast, but that was a horrid experience. My spirits dropped to an ultimate low here. For any of those who would like to experience this, open all your doors and windows in your beloved kitchen and living room during mosquitoe season and enjoy!! I now have a worst enemy, Mosqui the Mosquitoe. I will forever do everything I can to kill any mosquitoe I see for having to go through that disgusting episode on Friday, the 13th. This was worse than any horror movie, because it was real!
